The 2015 Wexford Business Expo delivered a strong message that the county is a serious place in which to do business. “With over 1500 attendees interacting with almost 100 exhibiting businesses, the amount of business that was generated on the day was very impressive” said Martin Doyle, President of Wexford Chamber. Referring to Wexford County Hall, where the marquee event took place last Thursday, he added “The state of the art venue was ideal for an event of this scale, a sentiment which was shared both exhibitors and attendees.
Based on the theme of Capitalising on the Recovery, attendees were able to participate in interactive workshops with leading entrepreneurs across a broad spectrum of sectors and to access practical advice that could aid their company’s specific growth objectives. One of the many highlights of the event was the ‘Angels’ Den’, which saw three high potential start up businesses pitch for investment in front of a panel of Business Angels.
The keynote speaker at the event was the Wexford born genius and founder of Scorpion Computer Services, Walter O’ Brien. Walter spoke about the the highly successful Scorpion TV show and then focused on how the world is changing. From self-driving cars to the impending release of Oculus Rift, virtual reality technology, Walter provided us with an insight what the future will look like.
Walter was presented with a Wexford Chamber ‘Outstanding Achievement’ Award by Karl Fitzpatrick, Vice President of Wexford Chamber. The award, a beautifully crafted 1916 commemorative pin, which was produced by Martin’s Jewellers of Rowe Street, Wexford. The limited edition pin was number 197, which happens to be Walter’s IQ.
