County Wexford Chamber Presidents Lunch at the Brandon House Hotel

WORLD-champion boxing coach Billy Walsh was guest speaker at the Wexford County Chamber President’s Lunch, which was attended by business leaders from across the county. Newly appointed president Brendan Crowley, managing director of Wexford Bus, was welcomed to the event. Mr Crowley said he was looking forward to working for and with the business community in the coming year to ensure Wexford has a thriving business sector that is brimming with opportunities to provide good-quality employment. Outgoing president Willie Fitzharris was thanked for his tireless work over the past year.

Walsh, who is an ambassador for County Wexford, then gave tips to businesses. Mr Crowley said: “It was great to be able to take advantage of the short window of opportunity between restrictions when, with some semblance of normality, we could meet so many business representatives from across the county. “Despite the ongoing struggle with Covid, businesses were very upbeat and positive about the future.” “The theme of my message for the day was about team spirit. Wexford already enjoys success on so many levels.” Mr Crowley said the potential is even greater when everyone’s goals are aligned “and we work together as a team”. “Billy Walsh certainly helped to support that message, in particular when he spoke about five key lessons in relation to Olympic boxing success, one of which was about need for getting the culture right. “For me, by fostering that pro-Wexford team spirit where agencies, businesses and individuals work to support each other, whether that’s making the right connections or sharing information and learning, we can become a leading light as a sustainable, vibrant and productive economic area that support business growth and employment.” It has been a busy autumn/winter for the Chamber, as it supports and lobbies for businesses across Wexford, ahead of what is anticipated to be a very busy Christmas season on the retail front. Wexford County Chamber is urging people to shop local this year.
