County Wexford Chamber Skillnet and Green Tech Skillnet are launching the ‘Sustainability and ESG for Business Success’ training programme and the ‘Going Green’ sustainability platform to help local businesses improve their sustainability practices.
The pilot programme, offered free of charge, consists of three face-to-face group sessions complemented by one-on-one support tailored to individual companies with limited sustainability knowledge through a practical sustainability framework over a period of six months. Participant companies will engage in actionable tasks to progress along a sustainability roadmap, focusing on identifying and addressing capability gaps essential for achieving their sustainability goals.
Going Green website
Debuting in November 2024, the ‘GoingGreen.ie’ website will be a key resource for businesses. It will offer a free Sustainability Maturity Self-Assessment to evaluate current practices across various metrics, including Environmental, Social, Governance, Economic, Technology & Innovation, and Strategic Integration. Following the assessment, users receive personalised recommendations and can set up an action plan.
The platform will also provide training programme recommendations based on prioritised areas. And it will compile a database of sustainability training offerings in Ireland.
Benefits for trainers using the platform include national reach to a sustainability-focused audience, hassle-free course delivery, and data-driven success metrics.
Sustainability a necessity
Aisling O’Connor, the newly appointed Network Manager for County Wexford Chamber Skillnet, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative. “I am delighted to be part of the ‘Going Green’ project! Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword; it is quickly becoming a necessity and an integral aspect of every business strategy. The collaboration between County Wexford Chamber Skillnet and Green Tech Skillnet will significantly support organisations in their sustainability efforts and develop necessary skills within their workforce.”
Mark Ruane, Manager of the Green Tech Skillnet, emphasised the importance of this collaboration in fostering sustainable business practices: “Investing in sustainability is not just about compliance; it’s about creating a competitive edge. Companies that embrace sustainable practices can reduce costs, attract top talent, win customer loyalty, secure lucrative contracts, and enhance their brand. By joining forces, we are committed to equipping local businesses with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive in a sustainable economy.”
Looking ahead, Aisling O’Connor added, “We are actively planning our 2025 schedule, which will introduce additional sustainability courses and new programmes that align with business needs, regional priorities, and industry trends.”
