Black Amber was established in Gorey in February 2015. Owners Roy and Liam Kennedy made the move to the sunny Southeast after operating two successful salons in Dublin and have since opened another in Naas, Co. Kildare.

The team in the salon have developed Black Amber Packages which allow clients to book everything their hair needs with the touch of a button. Packages can include luxurious hair treatments as well as necessary colour preparation treatments, to ensure your hair stays in the best condition possible when colouring or lightening. After all having silky hair is all part of the experience. Luckily the Black Amber experience doesn’t have to end when your treatment does, as the
salon hosts a wide range of superior hair care for you to take home, including salon exclusives. Brands stocked in the Gorey salon include, but are not limited to, Kérastase, Goldwell, Kevin Murphy, Hot Tools, Olaplex and Eleven Australia. The salon have also partnered with popular hair extensions brand Showpony to bring clients the highest quality extensions.
Although Covid times may have shaken the service industry, Black Amber have continued to grow strength to strength while also adapting to the ‘new normal’. The addition of hand sanitising stations, section dividers and strict cleaning procedures, have allowed them to remain open and keep their clients hair looking gorgeous while also being a welcome distraction to the numbers on the news.
With an average client rating of five stars it’s clear their mission of providing the people of Gorey with a top class hair salon has been achieved. This sentiment is solidified by salon software company Phorest who have awarded Black Amber Gorey with the Client Experience Award each year since they opened their doors.
We also must recognise their win in 2018, as Master Stylist Hannah Kavanagh brought home the ‘Fantastic Fantasy Hair Stylist Award’ at the prestigious Alfaparf Milano Fantastic Hairdresser awards.
