€5,485 Donated to The Collective Sensory Group
Wexford Chamber selected The Collective Sensory Group as their chosen charity partner at the recent County Wexford Business Awards Gala Ceremony and were today (22/06/2018) delighted to present a cheque for €5,485 to this very worthy cause. The monies were raised by the business community from the proceeds of a raffle draw held at the Awards Ceremony on Friday 25th May 2018 in Clayton Whites Hotel.
Shona King, Director of Services CEO at the Collective Sensory Group said, “These funds have enabled us to provide services and supports for over 50 families from our waiting list and also allowed us to purchase new assessment tools which will greatly benefit our staff and service users. The awareness that the County Wexford Business Awards has raised for our Centre and for our families has been phenomenal, this awareness will have a lasting effect and will benefit our children, companies and community for many years to come. We are extremely grateful to Wexford Chamber for giving us this opportunity and for creating the opportunity for so many local businesses to show their support, which they did in abundance on the night of the Awards”.
Enda Kavanagh, CEO Wexford Chamber commented “It is clear that the CSG is a cause close to many hearts and very well respected for the service they have been providing in Wexford since 2015, given the overwhelming level of support that CSG received from the business community. We are delighted to be in a position to make a sizeable donation to this community based organisation which will provide essential intervention for almost 60 families currently on their waiting list”.
Established in 2015 as a non-profit voluntary led organisation, the Collective Sensory Group provides Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy, recreational activities and workshops for children aged 0 – 18 with additional needs including autism, downs syndrome and dyspraxia.
Based in John’s Road in Wexford, the CSG support on average 45 families with additional needs every week and have worked with over 400 families since 2015, supporting them at what can be a very difficult time for a family. CSG rely solely on fundraising and donations so they can continue to subsidise these therapies for families.
Wexford Chamber would like to sincerely thank those who donated on the night and to the following businesses who kindly sponsored prizes for the raffle draw: Zurich Insurance, Gainfort Hair & Beauty, Talbot Hotel Wexford, Maldron Hotel Wexford, The International Outdoor Adventure Centre & Camping Grounds, Mary Barry’s Seafood Bar & Restaurant, Kelly’s Resort Hotel & Spa, Wells House & Gardens and Scallans Food Factory.
