Food is Medicine

Transformation, wellness, healing, inspiration, rejuvenation and ecotourism are concepts that are becoming more and more important in our daily lives. There are places in this world, which, enable and empower us to experience this life-changing experience on all levels. One such place is near New Ross, County Wexford, Ireland and is known as Creacon Lodge Wellness Centre. Originally Creacon was a historic country inn and was transformed by Derek O’Neill and his late wife Linda into what is now an award-winning state of the art wellness center and hotel, and provides an incredibly unique atmosphere and opportunity for people to experience personal health, wellness, fitness and good food. 

In recent years Creacon has won several awards for hospitality and professionalism, and in 2016 won the award for the most Eco-Friendly Café/Restaurant, as all of its services, from the organically and locally grown food served, to its utilization of earth-renewing and sustainable conservation methods, are designed with healing, not harming, the environment and the earth.

In June 2016 a €1 million makeover was completed, offering guests a haven of peace in which to nurture the Spirit, Mind and Body. With the new expansion, there are now sixteen en suite bedrooms, several healing and consultation rooms, a personal gym, and inspiring art, statues and sculptures.  There are Anespa filters installed in all the shower facilities reducing the acidity for bathing, and Kangen Water is also served in our dining room and cafe. Creacon Lodge Wellness Centre offers several alternative healing modalities, including yoga, meditation, massage, acupuncture, acupressure, biofeedback, Rising Star healings, Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, Bowen Technique, and many others being offered by staff and qualified associate trainers. 

Our chef, has created a Food Is Medicine program in Ireland. This program is designed to increase health, vitality and wellness from the inside out. It helps restore the body’s ability to heal itself from dis-ease.  Many spices and herbs are blended with vegetables from Creacon’s organic garden to create the gourmet meals cooked fresh, and with much love, daily by the chef.  Creaocn lodge considers the body our temple and that in order for us to live a balanced, centered and peaceful life we must first start with our body and what we put into it.

Derek O’Neill, Managing Director – The man behind the concept: For more than 30 years, Derek O’Neill has been transforming the lives of people around the world. An internationally acclaimed psychotherapist, motivational speaker, author, martial arts sensei and humanitarian, Derek inspires and uplifts people from all walks of life through his books, workshops, consultations, speaking engagements, media, and humanitarian work. Inspired by his worldly travels, he formed SQ Foundation, a not-for-profit organization focused on helping solve global issues facing humanity today. In 2012, Derek was honored as Humanitarian of the Year and named International Celebrity Ambassador for Variety International the Children’s Charity.
