COUNTY ENTERPRISE AWARDS TO PAY TRIBUTE TO LOCAL BUSINESS HEROES
Wexford County Council’s Local Enterprise Office will pay tribute to local business heroes at the annual Wexford Enterprise Awards, which take place on Friday next March 10th during Local Enterprise Week.
The winning entrepreneur will represent County Wexford at the National Enterprise Awards in May, following in the footsteps of the 2016 winner John Hennessey of Hentech Fabrication, Ballymurn.
The nominees that have been shortlisted for the 2017 County Enterprise Award this year are:
- Kieran Mooney Mr Oil, Adamstown
- Tom and Laura Sinnott Wexford Home Preserves, New Ross
- Willie Devereux Natural Ice Cream Company, Wexford
- Nicky Lambert Yellow Belly Beer, Wexford
- Larry Byrne Club Choice, Rosslare
- Stephen Crean Bellehan Electrical Services, Enniscorthy
The awards ceremony, hosted by the Local Enterprise Office every year, will take place on March 10th at 3pm in Wexford County Council Headquarters, Wexford. The overall winner is set to receive €2,500 and a place in the national final in Dublin. The runner-up will receive €1,000.
Announcing the shortlisted entrepreneurs, Tom Banville, Head of Enterprise with Local Enterprise Office Wexford stressed the importance of celebrating local success stories. “As the LEO is the first-stop-shop for start-ups and small businesses in the region, on March 10 we are paying tribute to local heroes who are the entrepreneurs and job-creators behind successful businesses and brands. Through the National Enterprise Awards, innovation and vision are both recognised and rewarded.”
The Enterprise Awards is one of the flagship events taking place during Local Enterprise Week, which runs throughout the county from March 5th to 10th. All over the country, the 31 Local Enterprise Offices are jointly running over 380 events aimed at start-ups, aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses.
