Our CEO, Paula Roche, President Conor Robinson, and members of our Board of Directors were delighted to welcome Cynthia Ní Mhurchú MEP and her constituency manager, Martin O’Brien, to County Wexford for an engaging discussion on key economic and infrastructural priorities.
The meeting on March 21 focused on the interconnected challenges of enterprise, employment, and skills, highlighting the vital role of education, tourism, and discretionary spending in driving economic development.
As a sub-member of the EU Transport Committee, Cynthia’s insights were particularly valuable as we discussed pressing transport issues, including:
- Decarbonisation costs & the energy directive
- Green fuel rebates & fuel quality in Ireland
- Driver Licence Directive & Certificate of Professional Competency (CPC)
- Costs to transport businesses (retrofits, surcharges, tolls)
Infrastructure was also a major focus, with discussions on the need to complete the M11 to Rosslare Europort, expand key east-to-west routes, and develop the infrastructure required for an offshore renewable energy hub at Rosslare Europort.
With key takeaways outlined and next steps identified – including collaboration with our local TDs, Senator, and Minister – we sincerely thank Cynthia for her time, engagement, and commitment to advocating for these priorities at the EU level.
