The Wine Buff – discovering well balanced wines from sustainable sources

Whiskey & IPA aficionados have quite a selection of alcohol to pick from in County Wexford but wine connoisseurs are limited on where they can exercise their palate. However, one local couple wants to give the purple teeth club a much loved place to smile.

In 2019 husband and wife duo Declan & Emily Murphy opened a new wine shop called The Wine Buff Gorey in Main Street Gorey with a mission to help wine drinkers discover wines that are from sustainable sources, well-balanced and have a sense of place. “We were looking for something new for Gorey, we have excellent restaurants and great food, and felt The Wine Buff, with its offering of wines from small winemakers and sustainable vineyards, was a great match to complement what is already available in Gorey,” said Emily. These wines are exclusive to The Wine Buff but exclusive does not have to mean expensive. In fact they are often described as “extraordinary wines at ordinary prices”.

So, if you would like an alternative to the mass-produced varieties that line supermarket shelves, then try a great quality bottle from an independent producer and support your local neighbourhood wine shop.
