County Wexford Chamber vouchers top €1.5m mark for the first time
County Wexford Chamber’s Shop Local Vouchers sales have topped the €1.5 million mark for the first time since their introduction in 2020.
This is hugely significant for the Chamber – which represents the Wexford, New Ross and Gorey areas – with sales in 2022 up by 25 per cent increase on the previous year.
County Wexford Chamber President Brendan Crowley said: “It’s fantastic to see so many new companies choosing our vouchers as a means of rewarding and thanking their staff. Also, there is a noticeable increase in the number of individual purchases by people choosing to use vouchers as personal gifts for their nearest and dearest.”
He said he was delighted to see the list and range of participating business accepting the vouchers growing across the county. “It is a real case of everybody donning the purple and gold jersey. While the vouchers are particular popular around Christmas, it’s important the remind people that they are available for all special occasions and treats throughout the year.”
The Shop Local Vouchers can only be spent in County Wexford.
Acting CEO of County Wexford Chamber Emma Dunphy said: “Over 260 businesses in Gorey, New Ross, and Wexford accept the vouchers, so the benefit to employment and the local economy is immense.”
Significantly, in last year’s budget, the Government extended the Small Benefit Exemption scheme. Now, employers can give €1,000 to workers by way of tax-free vouchers a year.
“We encourage businesses using this scheme to consider buying our Shop Local Vouchers for such rewards to keep the benefits of this financial support in our county’s economy,” said Ms Dunphy.
“We are delighted that new participating outlets come on board every week – Shop Local Vouchers can be spent on everything from your weekly shopping or household fuel to clothing, jewellery, beauty, hospitality, art, and much more.

Shop Local Vouchers are available to purchase all year round in denominations of €10, €25, and €50.
