A workshop for the members of the Wexford Tourism industry has been announced by Fáilte Ireland in order to further develop Wexford’s position on Ireland’s Ancient East.
In mid-April Fáilte Ireland launched Ireland’s Ancient East – an initiative that seeks to build on the wealth of historical and cultural assets in the east of Ireland stretching from Carlingford down the east coast to Cork and from Cavan to Carnsore Point.
Commenting on the upcoming workshop for Wexford, Chair of Visit Wexford, Bettie Marie Burger-Smit said, “This is one of a number of workshops which are set to be held all along Ireland’s Ancient East but it is a very important one for Wexford. This is the industry’s chance to engage with the brand and to assist in building the opportunities for Wexford within the product offering which will result in an enhanced experience within Wexford for visitors touring Ireland’s Ancient east.”
Ireland’s Ancient East will attract greater international attention by offering visitors a personal experience of 5,000 years of history through a relaxing journey of discovery in the beautiful landscape that attracted warring settlers for millennia.
The key to this initiative’s success will be how local people, communities and tourism stakeholders, offering stories and products, which touch on the main themes of Ireland’s Ancient East, illuminate the local history.
The brand workshop is where Fáilte Ireland will share the thinking behind the brand, feedback from consumers and international buyers and plans on bringing this exciting initiative to life. As part of the workshop an exploration of the great stories in Wexford will take place to see how these can be a part of Ireland’s Ancient East.
The Wexford workshop will take place at the Amber Springs Hotel on May 12th at 9.30am. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to pre-register for this free workshop with Fáilte Ireland via email to
